The driver, the mysterious Mr. Gooch of the title, has just walked into their lives. I won't go any further, but trust me, the story just gets better and better. The author has done a great job of creating believable characters and a believable setting. The story is well written and the pacing is excellent/5(6).   Mr. Gooch can sometime go a bridge too far in attempting to connect the events of O’Connor’s life to her fiction, as when he speaks of O’Connor one day slamming shut a book .

Here is a hardcover, Romeo and Juliet book published by Raintree publishers in This is a simplified version of the play written by William Shakespeare for a younger audience. Illustrated by Charles Shaw. The book is in good vintage condition with slight ware to the spine and discolouration on. Mr. Bones by Paul Theroux is a very highly recommended, wonderfully descriptive collection of twenty short stories. There should be a story that will appeal to almost everyone in these masterfully well written stories, many of which take common-place occurrences and put a twist on them/5.

Although Mr. Gooch appreciates the glittering literacy of Thomas MaCaulay's essays, he abhors his dishonesty and exaggerations. But MaCaulay was not a historian, he was an advocate who wrote history. Moreover, although he was often unjust, he was not always wrong.5/5(6).

Gootch and the Pennyfarthings (Collins Colour Cubs Series): ISBN () Softcover, Collins, Pinocchio Goes on the Stage: Based on the Story by Carlo Collodi. The book--despite the anodyne title may suggest otherwise--is bewitchingly amusing to read: Gooch exposes the monumental amount of material of the "historiographical century par-excellence" with a combination of awe, for such men who worked for thirty years on a a handful of volumes, and archness, for the superhuman effort that often lead to obscurity, or worse, to utter ruin by an often tendentious 5/5(6).

Mr. Gooch has written a book full of facts and trivia - it's certainly a worthwhile chronicle of O'Hara's life. If you're looking for a more intimate portrait I recommend "Digression On Some Poems By Frank O'Hara," for a more academic look at his work look for "Poet Among Painters."Cited by: Gooch tells story about family, football with both club and county, injuries and life in general very well in a very down-to-earth manner.

I would encourage anyone to read this book as it is written in a class manner by a class person with a few whitty stories along the way/5(1). Gooch used to visit a blind Mr. Harley, who gave him a taste for literature and philosophy, which he felt grateful for throughout life, and acknowledged by a bequest large in proportion to his means.
